Cynthia began her successful career by moving from New York and pursuing a career as fashion model. After signing a contract lasting five years, she was able to make a splash as the cover model of Essence Magazine. Not only was Cynthia's first cover for Essence one of the highest-selling covers in the magazine's history and also the personal choice of the editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia secured her second Essence cover shortly thereafter and set the foundation for her long-term career. Following her move to Paris Cynthia was seen strutting down her Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to move to New York City after living abroad for nearly a year. Her campaigns included Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Editorials for magazines such as Vogue Glamour Elle Essence as well as Vanity Fair followed. Cynthia was a part of the most memorable career moments. She was selected ahead of Naomi Campbell, for a performance as Sandra Bernhadt opposite in the movie "Without You - I am Nothing."
